Malwina

Malwina is the late strawberry variety. It sets a new standard in the late ripening period for direct marketing. Malwina is a cross between “Sofie” x “Klon”. The cross was made in 1998 by Peter Stoppel.

Yield

Yields are about 15 % lower than those of Elsanta (approx. 20 % lower with straw delay). The proportion of large fruits is 85 % (straw-delayed approx. 77 %). The proportion of marketable Class I fruit is therefore higher than with Elsanta.

Flavor

Good in brightly picked fruit (wholesale market). Very good when fully ripe.

Fruit characteristics

Malwina is hardy and relatively resistant to diseases. It is tolerant to Verticillium, insensitive to fruit rot and is rarely affected by mildew.

Malwina is insensitive to heavy rain and sunburn.

The plant is very robust and vigorous with dark green, medium-sized glossy leaves.
